2017/6/30 Book reading - 英語で読み解く ハーバード AMP 藤井正嗣

This book written by Masatsugu Fujii (different Mr. Fujii of the previous book I read - I completely mixed up two gentlemen :-) - AMP 156  is about HBS's AMP definition, objectives and case study.

Here are my notes.

Harvard AMP trains executives to think their own (since executives are solitary) and no afraid to say their own opinions.

Knowledge is meaningless unless you and your organization can utilize it, unless change is brought about in people's attitudes, skills and behavior.

Good managers - enable others to act effectively.

There is Meyers-Briggs Day
There is 360 degree feedback
There is outdoor Team building day

inquiry and advocacy group norms - common understanding of learning objectives





私が読んだ前の本の藤井さんとは別の藤井さんで、この本にHBSのAMPの定義、目的、ケーススタディを日本語で丁寧に解説してくれています。 <財務書類の推薦> 会計の要点（Leslie K. 2017/6/29 Book reading - 挑戦！ハーバード AMP 藤井義彦

MBA is a long time ago and I just remember Tully's coffee taste with book reading. Same bitter taste.

This book, Harvard AMP challenge by Mr. Yoshihiko Fujii. He is AMP 106 in 1990. 27 years ago, but still told me a lot about. Back then AMP was 3 months long. (now is less than 2 months), Books they read was actually 2m 28cm tall. I read probably 2m tall books in my MBA. And I'm just really scared.

Also he said, we need to read 3 cases - one case takes 3 hours for non-natives, he could only sleep 5 hours and 30 mins (by skipping breakfast whole program).

Very shocking. It is really MBA again. I was thinking it requires less effort since this course is for executives, (not for 20's-30's of young students).

Yeah, you should take it SERIOUSLY about the name of Harvard Business School.

He went to Boston to hand in his application in person. What an action.
He tried to contribute as much as possible as noble Japanese. I found good Senpai (Seniors) I can go after.

I promise to raise my hand in the first class and say something, too!



27年も前ですが藤井義彦氏の「挑戦！ハーバードAMP」AMPを目指す人にとって本当に示唆に富む良本です。なんでも以前は3ヶ月のコースで（現在は2ヶ月弱）、読んだ本は2メートル28センチになもなったそう。

一日に5時間半しか寝られないく、朝食をすべてスキップしたとのこと。

かなりショックでした。AMPはエクゼクティブ向けのコースなので、まさかMBAのように20代、30代がぎりぎり耐えられるくらい大変とは思っていませんでした。
さすがHarvard、まったく手加減なしです。認識が甘かったです。

どうしても入学したいので、ボストンに飛んでいって、願書を手渡すという行動力。
ネイティブでなくても、日本人代表という意識を持たれて、自ら手を上げてクラスに貢献する姿に、すばらしい諸先輩方の背中を感じました。

私も絶対に第一回目の授業で手を上げて発言します！

2017/6/28 reservation 出張手配

One very important thing to do, make reservations.

Here is my basic schedule.

 Sep 6 - Narita to Cleveland
 Sep 7 / 8 - Visit my company's US subsidiary
 Sep 9 - Cleveland to Boston
 Sep 10 - class starts

A little busy before AMP, but this is simply because overcome jet-rag before the class starts. It's been said that we can only sleep 5 hours per night. How can we survive with jet rag?

とても重要なこと　－　出張の手配　ですね。

クリーブランドに寄る予定なので、AMPが始まる前に少し忙しくなるのですが、時差ボケを直しておかないと、どうやら1日5時間も寝られないくらい忙しくなるようなので、時差ボケで眠いとか言う次元ではないようです。

2017/6/25 Camera カメラ

How to take picture in Harvard?

Off course I will take as many picture as I can in Harvard, but I don't want to bring my big Nikon D5200, a single-lens reflection camera - too heavy to carry. So I decided to buy RICOH GRⅡ. Will take good photo with good camera! (not by iPhone 7 lol)



ハーバードではもちろんたくさん写真を撮りたいと思っています。ただ、ニコンの一眼レフをもっていくのはちょっと気がひける。レンズと合わせるとかなり重い。ということで、リコーのGRⅡを買いました。短焦点だけどきっと十分なはず。

良い画像でブログをおとどけします！(iPhone 7でなく 笑）

2017/6/20 Got schedule スケジュールが送られてくる

Just got detail schedule from Harvard AMP.

- Please plan to arrive on-campus by Sunday, September 10th at 1:30 p.m.

I was thinking to stay one night before Sep 10th, so this means, I need to book a hotel. Not much hotels are available near Harvard campus, as Harvard suggested, I will probably stay at Charles hotel, although one night stay costs $389 + TAX. Everything is executive price. I do pay myself, so I used hotels.com reward I've been saving for life. Now is the time to use :-) (still 3 nights left, probably use in NY at mid break)

9月10日の午後1時半までにキャンパスに到着してください

前泊しようと思っていたので（慣れたいので）ホテルが必要です。ということで、調べたのですがあまり良いホテルがハーバードキャンパスのまわりにありませんでした。しかたがないので、無難に推薦されたCharles Hotelに予約を入れたのですが、なんと一晩398ドル＋税。これがエクゼクティブ価格というやつですか！ 自腹なので、今まで貯めてきたHotels.comのRewardを使いました。いつ使うの、今でしょ。（まだ3日ありますので、Mid LeaveでNYで使います）

2017/6/14 Prep for case study ケーススタディの準備

Good thing is, I have many cases to read (From MBA). Hopefully I can read them though before AMP starts. Looking back, well studied beck then.

良いのはMBAでたくさんHBSのケースをもらったことです。
一応一通り目を通しておきたいと思っています。
見返すと我ながらよく勉強してありました。笑

2017/6/11 Cambodia trip カンボジア旅行

I was in Cambodia last weekend. Only for 2 full days of vacation, so not so relaxed, but had a lot of fun since I traveled with my high school friends together. The minimum wage there is 1/3 of its in Japan, but felt like more than 5 times of the price difference in food for local people.

先週末はかねてより計画していたカンボジアに行ってきました。丸二日の弾丸旅行でしたので、そこまでリラックスはできませんでしたが、それでも高校の同級生とこの歳で旅行ができて楽しかったです。現地の最低賃金は日本の1/3程度でしたが、現地の方の食べ物は体感は5倍くらいの差があるように感じました。

2017/6/4 Tuition 学費のこと

Just got invoice of $80,000 from HBS. Today's exchange rate is 110.35. So 8,828,000 yen... My MBA was 5,040,000, but for 18 months. AMP is 48 days.

184,000 yen per day. 1 day = 8 hours so 23,000 yen per hour. PER HOUR!!
Just think how precious the time can be.

HBSより請求書が届きました。8万ドル。今日の為替レートが110.35円なので、
882万8千円。MBAは18ヶ月で504万でした。AMPはたった48日！

時間というものは万人に平等に流れるものですが、その価値はどれほど貴重になれるものなのでしょう。

2017/6/3 Start preparation 準備開始

One day from the admission. OK, now let's face the realities. How should I prep for it in 3 months?

Probably I can get to start as follows.

1. Research, find the books/materials and read in advance

2. Polish my rusted English

3. Set list for goods to bring (what to wear??)

4. Book the flights, possibly stop by US daughter company

Yeah, here comes again, these so many things to do. Probably I need some advice  from some HBS AMP Senpai. 

合格から1日あけ、さてAMPの準備に取り掛かからないと。
でも3ヶ月で何をすれば良いのだろう。

１．できだけ本とマテリアルを集めて読んでおく
２．さびた英語を磨いておく
３．持って行くものリストの作成
４．飛行機の手配、出張と合わせたり。。。

という、この面倒なアクションリストが山積み。だれかAMP卒で聞ける先輩がいないものか。

2017/6/2 Admitted!! 合格通知

Today I woke up at 4:30 am, then I found e-mail from Harvard ! It took for 5 months, it's been a long long time to wait. Well, in the web page, they said 4 month prior to the starting date, review monthly. Yeah I applied way too early, but then I waited for 3 weeks (class start Sep 10, so May 10 is 4 months prior) and didn't get any feedbak yet, so I called them a couple of times. Then I got this today.

Coincidentally I'm in Kyoto for business trip this morning, so I run to Kitano Tenmangu for morning jogging and pray for thankfulness of giving me this opportunity. 12km, longer than I thought.

Anyway my next challenge has been set to HBS!!!!!

朝4時半に目が覚めたらHBSより合格のメールが来ていました。Webをよく読んだら、授業開始の4ヶ月前からマンスリーでレビューしていくと書いてあって、私の場合は早く出願しすぎたのかもしれません。その割にはなかなか連絡が来ないので、何回かオフィスに状況確認をして（催促して）いまして、ようやく結果来ました。

そして今日は出張で京都にいるという偶然。

朝から北野永谷天満宮に合格のお礼参りに朝ランしてきました。京都駅から12キロ、遠かった。やはりここから始めます。

とにかく、HBSチャレンジがスタート！！　これから10月まで、なるべく毎日更新していきますので、お付き合いをよろしく御願いします。
