Class #1 Iraq
I was sitting next to classmate from Kuwait. Iraq has such a sad history, ethnic issue, government, religions, oils are all in. "everybody suffered" he said, squeezed my heart so much. Realized that Japanese doesn't know much about or simply it was the news from far away. Among this AMP's 40 nations participants, we discussed "Justice", we were all thinking deep. Yet I couldn't find the easy answers.
But at least I want to believe that when we try to listen to what they say (probably I can't understand after all), start the relationships that way, this seems to me the only way. It's very close to hope. Need generations to heal, a difficult long way ahead.

クウェートから来ているクラスメートの隣に座っていました。イラクは悲しい歴史を持ち民族問題、政府、宗教、石油のすべての問題がひとつに集まっています。「みんな苦しんだんだ」と彼は言いました。胸の詰まる思い。日本がどれだけ彼らのニュースを遠くから簡単に扱ってきたことか。このAMPの40カ国からの参加者で”正義”を論じる時、我々は深く考えます。簡単な答えが見つからないので。
しかし、少なくとも、我々は彼らの気持ちを聞くことができるし（きっと理解はできないでしょうが）そうやって関係を始めることこそが、唯一の道なのではないかと思います。願いに近いものですが。解決するには何世代もかかる問題です。道のりは長いです。

This is probably the most interesting topic for all of us now since we are in US the first year that President Trump started. Looking at many indicators as GDP, balance of payment, savings rate, we are on a very fragile economy environment. Anything could happen so quickly, and turns everything to an opposite way. They basically borrowing from the future. To improve the current situation, US needs to raise tax or savings or exports, otherwise we (China, Japan, etc) need to keep on buying US treasury bonds. We all know this is not sustainable.

Today we participated in Brian Honan 5K event with my class mates, total about 15.
今日は日曜日。5kmチャリティーマラソンにクラスメートと参加。15名ほど。
Very hot and shiny day, temperature was probably up to 27 degree. Too hot to run.
超暑い。なんと27度。走れるかな。

ハーレーの先導。アメリカっぽいです。
Finished (with 32 mins, too slow), but participation is more important for me and spending athletic time with AMP friends is priceless. God a medal.
32分でFinish。遅すぎだけど、AMPのみんなと走れて良かった。
Got back to my room around 2 pm, had quick lunch and start reading cases.
They said that 3rd week is the toughest. 19 classes + 2 optionals. Yesterday I finished 2 deep dives and 2 case readings, today just finished 13 cases!!!! (wow, my reading skills are so improved) LG meeting from 8 to 10 pm.
Will try to finish all tonight. (but 2 heavy ones left, Iraq and Saudi Arabia, but I want to read deep since I like Prof Vietor's class so much)

We are in the business world, yet so many security and peace issues we are having now. We should not ignore them. These are our problem, just next to us.
We all took seriously in this class, since we are surrounded by deep silence. I think we all thought a lot in this 2 hours' session. AMP is great place to actually feel the world in my skin.

Woke up 7. Slept better but missed exercise again. I will go tomorrow.

When we have own P&L, we find there are many ways to report actually. So we have choices even following reporting standards. Key take away was, we use our insight to create credibility for financial reporting choices.
クラス１ GAAPルールにおける資産と経費の計上について
自分のPLを持つと、実際多くの方法で計上できることがわかります。
たとえGAAPルールに従っていたとしても計上に選択があります。
実業に沿った形できちんと計上していくことの大切さを学びました。

3 classmates taste test of different Coke/Pepsi/other Coke to see if they can identify them. Result is this. 1 out of 9, worse than the statistics!

恒例の飲み比べ大会。コーラとペプシとその他。
さて結果はなんと、正解１つ！確立よりも悪いという。
最終的には微妙な味の違いは分からないということです。
We analyzed based on famous five force.
But interesting finding was, they are "rational competitors", meas they know how to play a game. They are in a marketing war, but they don't shoot each other. They grow market together and also stay creative to have good rivalry.
そしてここで登場のファイブフォース。ですが、面白いのは、たとえ競合であっても、ゲームのやり方を知っている理屈の通る競合であれば、マーケティング戦争でどのように戦うかはあっても、実弾を打ち込むことはない。いっしょにマーケットを拡大し、お互いが切磋琢磨して創造力を発揮して高めていく。よきライバルというお話し。

Sometimes vertical integration operating structure binds us. We have many success cases more outsource structure wins, such as Sharp vs Samsung on TV, Nokia vs Apple. It's a clear trade off, vertical or horizontal, but we need to watch carefully about the market trend and align our structure accordingly.

I'm really thankfulness to come all the way here to meet my coach. The first day we met, we all needed to wrote what I want to do or know, she said "These are not what you are looking for." Damn, she is SOOOO good at understanding my mind.

I'm glad if I could gain some trust as they see in my nationality, Japanese. I believe "Trust" can solve many issues.

Also Balance of Payment tells what is growing.
I've been to India twice in my life like 20 years ago, looking at the numbers, felt now is the time to invest.

First Sunday off!!!! But Sunday means nothing here, we just have to read the cases and summarize for Monday.

Woke up a little late like 9 am. Attended for Food Power session, taught us about which food to take to stay healthy.
とはいえ、9時までゆっくり寝て、おきてフードパワーというセッションに参加しました。
どういう食事をすると健康にいられるかというもの。現代社会は高カロリーとの戦いなのです。

Japanese attendees (AMP+GMP) had lunch together. Total 12 of us.GMP is under AMP, average age is about 40. AMP is about 45.
Surprised I'm the youngest in the group.
ここで学んでいる日本人の方に集まって頂きランチしました。AMPとGMP、合わせて12人。GMPは平均40歳、AMPは47歳とのこと。なんと私が一番年下でした。
Finished 4 cases after lunch. Just quick 40 mins Jog from 4 pm. Nice day, too hot to jog. I believe this is the rode where Haruki Murakami run around. A big fun.

We had team meeting from 5 to 7:30 pm. Finished 2 cases after. We have 15 cases for this week, 4 left to study. Almost cannot find time to study, so need to squeeze case reading somewhere. All about time management here.

今週はトータルで15ケースあり、まだ未読が4つ残ってます。今週は勉強する時間がなさそうなので、どこかに入れ込まないと。時間のマネジメントが大変。

Actually AMP`s finance class is really good. Spend a lot of time how the finance is used for valuing the business and company (later Stock price and M&A etc). Touched basics Accounting on HBS session before this program starts, so not mixed up. Accounting and Finance.

2間目は、コンシューママーケティング、Swatchのケース。
お昼はソーシャルビジネスのテーブルでディスカッション。
3間目は、財務分析の授業。
このあたりはAMPのカリキュラムは優秀で、必要な知識はさらっとオンラインで終わらせておいて、業績分析から深く入るので効率が良い気がします。

最初の5日間はみんな少し壁があったのだけど、こういう声がけができるリーダーって良いなと思いました。素晴らしい仲間と勉強出来る環境がAMPです。
