2017/8/18 Pre-AMP dinner

Just back from AMP-Pre dinner tonight.
AMP事前ディナーから戻りました。

There are 6 Japanese in class of 193, 2 of them are living in US, so total 4 of us joined, the event hosted by Mr. Saito of Harvard Research Center Japan. We also had alumni from 192, Dan-san kindly joined us to share his recent experience. A lot of valuable information were shared (like restaurants, laundry or how many clothes to bring,etc), by the time goes by, I started to feel we are getting the member of AMP, becoming a part of group. I had so much fun and honestly relieved.

AMP193には6名の日本からの参加者がおり、2名はアメリカに在住とのことでした。本日は4名が参加され、ディナーはハーバードリサーチセンタージャパンの所長の斉藤さんがホストしてくて、AMP192からDanさんが来てくれて彼の経験を話してくれました。（レストラン、洗濯、どれくら服を持っていくかなど）時間が経つにつれAMPのメンバーになっていく実感がありました。なんだか安心した次第。

This pre-dinner session started 3 years ago, since Japanese are tend to study too much and not socialize in AMP, so basically to meet us up before AMP and give some tips.

この事前ディナーは3年前から始められたとのことで、日本人は勉強ばかりしていて、あまりソーシャライズしないので、事前にこのような会で情報を共有することになったのだとか。

I was surprised about Dan-san's comments that we should focus on Soft skill than hard skill. This means importance of teamwork, having fun with living group and making friends. By opening and sharing very personal things to living group members so that they will be really like family and AMP well designed such way.

Danさんのコメントに驚いたのは、ハードスキルではなくて、ソフトスキルを習得することに主眼を置くべきとのこと。チームワークやリビンググループを楽しんで、友達を増やしたり。オープニングから個人的なことを話したりして、最後は本当に家族みたいになっちゃうんだ、AMPよくできてるんだよ。とのこと。

Also Harvard AMP alumni spread all over the world, but still there are reunion 2 years after, every 5 years and so on at somewhere in the world. Class of 192 will gather at London and 80 alumni to join.

Isn't this just amazing?

AMPの卒業生は世界中にいて、2年後にリユニオン、その後は5年ごとに集まるそう。AMP192はロンドンにあつまってなんと80名も参加したのだとか。すごいことです。

Lastly fhe most memorable thing to hear from Dan-san was,

"I would like to go back to AMP again now"

This tells Dan-san really had great time. Wish our 193 journey could be like this and I would like to tell AMP 194 the same thing. Thank you all tonight!!

最後にDanさんが言うには、”いますぐ戻りたいよ”とのこと。
きっと素晴らしい体験をされたのでしょう。我々AMP193も素晴らしい体験となれば良いのですが。194以降の方にも同じことが言えるように。
