2017/7/17 Kokorozashi - 志

3 places I need to do before going to Harvard.

1 - Go to Yasukuni Shrine
2 - Go to Shoin Shrine
3 - Go to Great Ise Shrine

I've been 1,2 today.

Yasukuni Shrine is where dedicated for the people who sacrificed their lives for the country. Thanking them and wishing world peace. First time for me to be here.

Yoshida Shoin is enshrined in Shoin Shrine. He was born in 1830, only 30 years of his life, he influenced so many people when they Meiji Ishin revolution after he was died. He was the one who tried to ride on the ship even it was felony at that time, when commander Perry showed up at Uraga shore in 1853. If he lived now, he want to go to abroad to study.

I live this bamboo pillar saying,

"How could you be a person who linger his name for a long time without reading a thousands of books. How could you be a person who bring the people peace without one's dedicated for life"

Kokorozashi - means somewhere between commitment and strong will not arbitrary, but for a greater purpose such as a country. I will bring this lucky charm to Harvard with my own Kokorozashi to contribute the society as Japanese.

Harvardに行く前に行かなければならないところが３つあります。

１　靖国神社
２　松蔭神社
３　伊勢神宮

今日は上２つに行ってきました。

靖国神社の参拝は初めてです。貢献への感謝と平和をお祈りしました。

吉田松蔭先生は、幕末の偉人を育てた思想家ですが、私が最も尊敬する人の一人です。
ペリー来航時に船に飛び乗ったのはとても有名なエピソードです。

"自非読萬巻書安得為千秋人 自非軽一己労安得致兆民"

私の座右の銘。たくさんの書物を読まずして、どうして歴史に名をとどめるような立派な人物となることができようか。自分の骨身の努力をせずして、どうして天下万民を安んずることができようか。

志　－　とは、（英語で言うならば）決意と意思の間のような意味です。
そして、個人の願いではなく、もっと大きなものへ。
この”志”のお守りと共にHarvardへ。日本人として世界に貢献できますように。
